Gilnean Art and Sick Day

I figured if you could count on anyone having some nice artwork it would be those classy Gilneans. They also have beautiful stained glass windows in Greymane Manor.

Oh, I love it. Whoever lived here liked wall art too. Mostly the dead animal kind but still, I like it, very cozy, warm, feeling in here in spite of the lonely creepiness of the zone. I wish there were people around. I really hope at some point Blizzard will populate Gilneas for people who aren’t doing the starting zone. Seems such a waste of a good spooky zone.

A tapestry. I don’t remember seeing one anywhere else which seems odd. I’ve got to pay more attention on my travels, I think I’ve been missing a lot.

A lovely wooly sheep portrait. Maybe he was a Gilnean’s 4-H project. Not sure they had 4-H in Gilneas, I’ll have to ask a Worgen.

Sometimes their taste seems to run to gloomy with full moons.

Another somewhat gloomy landscape, with another full moon. Yes, I know it’s rude to stand on the place setting but I don’t think anyone’s coming back and I wanted to get a good view. I wonder if these full moons were painted before or after the Worgen curse infected Gilneas. If it was before, that painter had some kind of an eerie prescience thing going on. Yikes, I’m outta here.

Luckily I had this post done last week so I can take a sick day. Last week my husband took a mental health afternoon sick half day, and then of course got sick a day later. Kind of ironically prophetic. I now have whatever it is. Yesterday we hosted the Mommmmie Day, so I hope all the other Mommmmie’s aren’t sick too.

In another show of prophecy, my non-gaming daughter had said that I shouldn’t be nervous about The Twisted Nether appearance as I would probably LOVE talking about WoW, and mentions of WoW are always accompanied by a world class eye-roll. It turns out she was right, it was lovely getting to talk to Hydra and Fimlys, I had fun, although I’m not up to listening to it as I don’t think I can take hearing my voice. Maybe after I get over this sickness my husband imported from work.

I stepped away from the computer for one day, ONE DAY, and I have 84 emails, most of them posts to read. I am so behind! I must catch up, finish rl work, cough and hack, so much to do … BUT WAIT!

I just realized that since I didn’t visit Anzu yesterday, if I hurry I can kill him twice today.  Yes, this surely will be my lucky day, the stars have aligned, the omens are all in my favor, this must be it! Let’s see, Ancona Chicken  and Argent Squire are up next. I think they sound lucky. We’ll see, here goes try 147 and try 148, wish me luck!

  1. I just had a thought: Since mounts are becoming account wide in MoP, if you have more than one high-level toon you could be farming Anzu on all of them. It would be a lot of work, but it would increase your chances of getting him.

Also, the Gilnean art is interesting. I never noticed it when I was leveling through the area. It’s a shame that zone is totally empty now, because it’s really beautiful and atmospheric.

    • Thank you Khizz! I don’t think I’d have ever thought of that! I’m going to send all the troops to Sethekk Halls, surely it will drop for somebody!

If you’ve got any “barely legal” toons for in there, let me know. I can think of someone who would happily come along who also happens to have zero interest in rolling on the mount. ;)

I wish you luck!!! /fingers and toes crossed

I didn’t have a chance to listen to the podcast live, but when it’s available to download I can’t wait to listen to it! :D I bet you sounded just fine! Nobody ever likes the way their voices sound when they listen to them after the fact. OMG I cringe every time I hear my voice on my answering machine. xD

    Feel Better! <3

    • Lol, I know! I begged my daughter to do my phone message so that I wouldn’t ever have to hear my voice.

Thanks, I should probably be eating chicken soup but surely leftover pizza had some medicinal effects!

  3. The sheep portrait? Someone’s dinner.

And actually, I’ve been sick, and am home sick today too. Maybe I got some bad mutton.

    • They immortalized him in paint then ate him, wow, those Gilneans are harsh.

Oh no, must be some sort of bi-coastal flu, hope you feel better soon. I just walked dogs in pouring rain and I’m now thinking flopping on the couch with them and watching a movie sounds like all I can manage, lol.

  4. Good Luck with Anzu.

When I was little, I was told that red and white together (especially flowers) are really unlucky because it’s a sign of the blood and bandages to come so I’m definitely going with:

“If it was before, that painter had some kind of an eerie prescience thing going on.”

    • Thanks Erinys, I hope I resolve this obsession with that mount before Mists come! Should help if I get all my level 85′s working on it.

Oh, that’s interesting, I’d never heard that before. I’m thinking about my wardrobe and I think I’m safe, I don’t think I have one red piece of clothing and I do have flowers downstairs but they’re all pastels, whew!

      …well crap.

  5. Those pictures look great. As the game goes on you can really see the difference with each expansion. The animations and details are a lot slicker which is nice.

I was sorry to miss your podcast. I really wanted to listen to it and contribute to the live chat. Especially after you supported me in mine :D. I did try and sneak away during the Mother’s Day lunch at my brother’s house and try and catch some of it. I couldn’t really hear anything though but saw a line from Navi that said “Mogit Mogit Mogit” Unfortunately I got called away directly after that so about half an hour later, I was set to have another listen but you had already left and I heard Filmlys saying he was going to bed so /sigh.

It’s the thought that counts right? …and waiting for the upload :)

Best of luck with Anzu though…

    • Thanks Cym, it is the thought that counts! Yes, I was trying to pay attention to what I was saying AND who was on, not very successfully and I found I had a lot of trouble using my husband’s Mac where Skype was, couldn’t even spell my own name, he has this teeny weeny little keyboard.

But I did see Navi! Yay! It was great to see her there!

And I saw Danslate, and then there were other names that I’ll have to investigate to see if they have blogs!

  6. That sheep picture is actually the photographers sister. He’s been dabbling as a mage. :)
Grats on being a guest on The Twisting Nether. That was the first podcast I ever listened too & I still listen to it.

  7. Oooh I love that first shot.

    • Hey there! I like to hang around there as it’s so deliciously spooky, at least taking screen shots gives one a good excuse to visit. Those Gilneans really have a flair for the dramatic.

  8. It’s okay to stand on the place settings in Gilneas.

Twisted Nether is a great podcast. They were my first and Fim/Hydra are really easy to talk to about Wow.

    • After I got over my nervousness at some point I realized I was having a lot of fun talking to them and really enjoyed it. While I’ve listened to many that was the first time I was ever around for a live one.

Whew, thanks, I’m glad I didn’t make a etiquette faux pas by standing on their table!

  9. That Gilneas is one classy place. I think I might have to level a worgen warlock… oooh I wonder if Worlock is taken. I’m sure it is.

I hope you feel better too! All this sickness going around is not good for the WoW playing and blogosphere.

That reminds me, I should be doing more of that Anzu thing. I still haven’t got my mount.

And I’m sorry I was late! I was at a Mother’s day thing, I knew you would understand :) But I wanted to be there to be your number 1 fan!!!

    • A Worgen Warlock would be perfect! And leveling there you’d get to see the zone with people, er, Worgens around.

I hope you feel better, apparently whatever this is, it’s not done getting worse. I can’t remember the last time I was sick, I’ve forgotten how to do it!

And I’m your number 1 fan, I was so glad to see you!
