Unfair!

orcgenes2I know … and on top of that, the pretty one also got the brains so she gets to just hang out in Orgrimmar and manage the finances for everyone. No fighting bad guys … no icky deaths … takes breaks to go pick up a Caffè Marocchino to sip while she stands in the AH. So unfair.

invokefarmingCim’s not too happy. She decided to work on Collect Your Deck and was horrified on finding out that Paper-Covered Rock is a chance drop from harvesting … crops. Warlocks don’t do farming … just no. They DO NOT dig in the dirt like a common laborer. I think she’s calling down a farm minion right there. I TOLD her it won’t work, she has to plant the crops and harvest them HERSELF. I’m afraid to even tell her about the Archeology one. So unfair. She’s livid.

So yeah, the whole Proving Grounds silver brouhaha thing. I am completely unqualified to have an opinion. That’s right, I DO NOT HAVE A PERKY PUG! There, it’s out. I don’t queue for anything random unless someone is with me and wants me to. And then it’s their responsibility to entertain me while we wait the looooonnnnngggggg time a daytime queue takes. Yes, as much as I love dogs I won’t face the long wait to get into anything.

I find that after I’ve waited a half an hour or so I’m now doing something I would rather do and then drop. I’m not a very patient person. The only daytime queues that seem to be a little faster are the low level instances at around 30 minutes or so.

My entire experience with bad players would be holiday and world bosses. There have been many, I have wondered … I mean REALLY … if an actual human being were behind the computer. Maybe they stepped away and their cat jumped on the keyboard as the queue popped.

It doesn’t bother me as long as they’re nice or as in most cases say nothing negative. I think they need an asshatometer, knowing whether you’re good at playing your character doesn’t matter as much to me as knowing whether you’re going to be abusive to everyone while playing your character well.

I think it’s nice that they are attempting to make things better for those who do random heroics, although I think the asshatometer would work better, but that’s just me.

I hate to be negative but … proving grounds … just a teeny tiny bit … tedious. It was great for using to learn a new spec but they’re just … well … boring. I think if you restarted at the level where you failed I could face going back. I WANT to go back but every time I think about wading through all the levels to get where I left off … nope, rather do something else.

I guess I thought they’d be more like the Brawler’s Guild fights. I get my butt kicked all the time but keep going back because they’re fun. I’m pretty sure I read that this would not be required on the existing proving grounds but a new and hopefully improved version of proving grounds.

Who knows what shall come to pass, in the meantime I’ll have to give the proving grounds another go. You guys better watch out. As soon as my left-handed sideways mouse* gets here you’re going down … maybe … if I don’t get distracted … which … yeah, on second thought maybe you boring proving ground guys are safe.

I know! I love these people! They made a left-handed vertical mouse! Lefties rejoice!

  1. You’re very sweet Tome, and I agree – an asshatometer would be great. Unfortunately all this may do is the unintended consequence of widening the elitism gap. BFD.

    • I imagine it will further lengthen those queue times. The ridiculous part is that I will do it if and when I have two hands back. I don’t like to be excluded even if I’m not going to do it, lol.

  2. Thanks for the link to that mouse. That looks very interesting. I’d never heard of them before.

    • In an effort to be proactive on my left hand and not let it get to the point my right arm has I googled without much hope and was thrilled that this company makes a leftie version. Now all I need is a vertical keyboard, lol.

  3. Let us Perky Pugless people of Azeroth unite! Must admit I’d rather do the Brawler’s Guild than the Proving Grounds as much as I find the PG interesting.

    • Yay for us Pugless! It’s really not even the fights that I mind in PG it’s the going from level 1 up to 7 again which is where Sasche kept getting stuck in Silver. I sometimes have just limited time and would like to do them but don’t have the time to go from 1 to 7.

I really like the Brawler’s Guild even if I’m too chicken to do them when anyone’s around, lol.

  4. You’re a lefty too, eh? We shall rule the world together!

  5. I love doing Proving Grounds. Well, to be exact Proving Grounds Endless Healer. I’m trying to beat my best attempt, which is wave 54. It is very time-consuming though, and the rng can be frustrating.

Now, PGs on my Warlock I like a lot less. I’ve got to wave 7 on Gold, but meh I don’t think Affliction is (as usual) the best spec for this (plus I suck at all the target switching required). I can’t manage my soul shards that well, so I’m struggling, and don’t really want to keep trying.

I have also tried PGs Tank, and I am pretty suprised how far I got with some very basic tanking gear, and zero experience of tanking. I have stumbled to Gold wave 6 as a prot paladin, which I am really pleased about, seeing as I have never tanked a single dungeon in my life! At some point I will definitely try to get the gold achievement on this…um after I get just a couple of waves further on healer. Just need a spare hour a day to attempt it.

    • Well damn! I’d be loving PG too if I did that well! I can’t even imagine having the focus to get to a 20th wave let alone 54!

If I’d done that well I’d be hanging out there bringing those guys cups of Caffè Marocchino and shooting the breeze with them.

  6. I agree, PG is very boring I was going to do them just for the achievement but I can’t seem to handle them for more than a few minutes at a time – not that I’ve been back too often. I do have the arch box on my bucket list though so hopefully soon.

    • I know, I go there with good intent and then think, nah, that’s enough of this, I’d rather do the brawlers. Although I do quite like the little amber prison guys. I tend to get too wrapped up with them and forget everyone else, lol.

  7. I believe that the BG items are account bound. So you could theoretically farm for them on an alt who likes to do those things and Cim can reap the benefit of actually doing the fights.

I am pretty sure the entire BG is account bound so anyone can enjoy it. :)

  8. […] Tome drew my attention to the news that que for level 100 heroic dgns in Warlords you will need to have a silver proving grounds medal for the role you want to que for. This wow insider post  gives more information about the changes. […]

  9. I just love reading your entries, Tome. So creative. I love how your characters’ personalities come to life, and you ‘argue’ with them on here. It’s hilarious. Perky Pug–’nuff said. I earned mine one pug at a time through LFG with 3 guild mates in each group! ;) Was a LOOOONG haul.

And this part: “I think they need an asshatometer, knowing whether you’re good at playing your character doesn’t matter as much to me as knowing whether you’re going to be abusive to everyone while playing your character well.” /standing ovation. Well said.

    • Thank you so much Anou. There are days that I feel like I’m in a bad relationship with my blog and WoW and I should break up with them. This morning I was feeling that way so your comment means a lot to me!

  10. Proving grounds was more fun for me because I wasn’t a DPSer and brawlers was made for people not like me. I was a dreadful failure at it as resto! And I didn’t want to DPS!

But, as I shamefully admitted on Zeirah’s blog… I can’t DPS for peanuts (as in I can’t do bronze coz I suck) so I will never be able to queue as DPS… which suits me just fine! I’ll just have to find a guild or group carry :D /grin
