Service Interruption and Talk Amongst Yourselves

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture … — The Outer Limits.

I’m not going to tweet this cause it seems kinda weird to be sitting here in a backwater bayou of WoW blogdom self-importantly proclaiming, “Alert, alert, I will not be talking, prepare yourself!” Yeah, big whoop, so I won’t be posting much for a while. But I did want to let those worriers like me know that I’m still here, not going anywhere. I’m a big worrier, for example I have checked Döra’s blog daily since last October because I’m worried about her. I know she’s probably just playing in another universe but still I worry. It’s what I do.

It’s that stinking real world. It’s causing drama that needs attending to. I hate when that happens, shit. I planned on talking about the drama to vent but I see it’s already started, I’m loosing my words, it starts with a shit and then will just snowball from there so I better keep quiet about it right now.

I did get cheered up though this morning. It seems sometimes the best stuff about a post is not in the post. Sometimes the very best stuff is in your comments when commenters talk amongst themselves. This is an abbreviated version of comments made on the “old lady style” post.

This tickled me on so many levels, foremost among them, I am pleased that things may have finally turned around in video games. After YEARS of:

Thanks, Dude.

NP, Dude.

WTF Dude.

UR a NOOB, Dude.

All directed at me, this happens. Turnabout is fair play. It’s come to the point that us females now assume everyone’s female. HAHAHAHAHA! I love this, and thank goodness it was JD, who is a manly man among men and can take it. Comments are the best thing ever.

Roger. Over and out.

P.S. May be back to rant but in my present condition I think ranting about a law firm on the interwebs is probably a bad idea cause the word on the street is that those suckers are known to be litigious.

  1. Hope everything gets sorted out soon.

    We’ll miss you.

  2. Will be looking forward to the day you return, and thanks for the notification, I also worry about Döra, but people do disappear to reappear just as suddenly.

It’s my impression that female WoW-bloggers are overrepresented compared to their male counterparts. I have not done a counting, but I think we are either close to 50/50 or more.
    That’s actually interesting…

    • I was “Dude” for all BC, I haven’t been called it for a long time but I think that’s more because of the dearth of group quests in Cata than a change in perception but I can hope!

  3. Backwater blogger? Hardly. And I will miss you, and yes, worry too. Consider me a friend, and please keep me posted.

    Stupid real world.

  4. I saw a survey a few years ago about players in online video games. It was on the internet so take it with a grain of salt.

As an average 1/3 of online video game players are female while 2/3 are male.
The average age for a male player is 23 while the average age for a female player is 31.

How true that is I do not know.

  5. Wait, wait, wait — now my selfish question: does this mean you won’t have time to visit me? 😦 Most unhappy sad face…

hope all is well, Tome – or will be well soon.

    • No, I’m still reading. I’m just in the mood where the only thing that makes you feel better is sitting on the couch hugging a big fat dog. They are the best therapists ever.

I failed miserably at my attempt to fix things over the weekend. It was the only solution I could think of but my husband is right that it was solving one problem by creating another one that may or may not have been just as bad.

I need to stop mopping and come up with another idea before these people kill him. What I’m afraid of is that dying is starting to seem an okay solution to him because he wouldn’t have to go back there. It is not an okay solution to me.

Better stop, I feel the fuckityfucks about to take over, and what’s worse I doubt this is an unusual story at all. Maybe I should write about it to get it out of my system and just not post it.

      • I joke that my ‘career’ (and it’s not my “customers” but my “supervisors”) have caused my to have termporary verbal tics, so the fuckityfuckfucks abound in my vernacular.

If my interference instincts are correct, I understand. Sounds like you got a bit of a fight on your hands, and just know you are not alone.

        • My oratory skills are apparently better than I thought. I spent the weekend trying to convince my husband to just quit and we’ll take our chances because sometimes when someone says they can’t take it anymore they really mean it and someone needs to listen.

My job here used to generate an actual income but since about 2009 it’s dwindled to about enough to maybe buy a years’ worth of dog food.

Hmmm, no problem, we’ll live off the land!

I did manage to get a smile out of him this weekend with this rating of his employer, he’s not an attorney just works for them there:

My favorite is the one that says if your only alternative is Taco Bell, take the Taco Bell job!

      • JD Kenada Says:

What sucks, is when the only thing that feels better is hugging a big dog can’t happen because you gave the dog up for adoption 3 days earlier and that’s the source of your melancholy in the first place.

Sorry, just felt the need to share with someone I knew would understand.

        • I can’t think of anything worse. I know that non dogs lovers sometimes think we dog people are crazy but they really are family.

        • JD Kenada Says:

Some people get it, and some don’t. Others are kind of in the middle. The ones that really get it help because you don’t have to explain it. The others won’t get it no matter how much you try to explain it.

          *sigh*

  6. “Maybe I should write about it to get it out of my system and just not post it.”

I do that all the time when I’m stressed. Sometimes reading it over can help you find the missing pieces of the puzzle.

Perhaps talking it over with someone who is removed from the situation could also be an option?

  7. Sorry to hear that Ancient. Hope you get some positive news soon. I agree about the venting/blogging. I’ve found it to be quite therapeutic at times. Written more for myself than anyone else.

  8. I wish you would just write it. You can just write it and not post it. Let it sit in your drafts for a while, you let it out. I have been thinking about you the last few days, but didn’t know exactly what to write, and I do like to see your outpouring of support and put my bit in at the end. Had been trying to see if you were around in game for a real hug (oh dear, imagine how funny it is when I go look for you in a virtual world to give you a real hug… the irony) but I must have missed you but here it is anyway /hug

    • Thank you for the hug Navi! Hug back to you! I’ve not been online much. That is so funny, I would have thought the same thing, that an ingame hug is a real hug!

I may or may not be posting much depends on how things turn out but I will be reading blogs, nothing’s going to keep me from that!

  9. Take care friend, /hug 🙂
