The waning moments of Legion …

Posted in Battle Pets, Dog, General WoW on July 16, 2018 by tomeoftheancient

I find myself coming here and reading old posts. Back when stories were told and poems were frequent. Yeah, not by me, those other guys. I don’t like my last post’s pictures, so at least one more post is in order.

That fox was at the top of my Legion list. Never happened. It’s funny considering how hard those sewers were at first that at the end I couldn’t even die in there. I would aggro the entire place in the hope of dying and … nope.

I finally gave up. This is ridiculous. I hate you Legion, I hate you Blizzard. I want one, just one crappy little thing and noooooooo. Recently I had a little time and checked and I had just enough to hire a crew to go once again into the sewers and YAY!

Gratuitous dog picture. Have to have at least one of those. And jeeeez, I’ve been gone from this blog so long the whole set-up has changed and I’m having a hell of a time figuring it out.

So my priorities here at the end of the expansion have been, aside from getting a fox mount, all about pets. There’s Cat thanking Algalon for her bunny.

Here’s Cat with Uuna who just dropped yesterday. Finally! Yes!

Tomorrow is the patch. This is the last day to defeat the Mage Tower, in Cat’s case Agatha. When did we try? Today, we left it until today. Yeah, not smart. We gave up after, I don’t know, between five and ten tries.

Everything went great until the big freaking boulders. Cat died pretty much every time from being knocked off into the toxic goop and not being able to find a way out before she was dead.

Welp. No blue sparkly kitty for her. Perhaps this will teach her better time management in the future, poor Cat.

Yup. That’s what’s on the agenda for the rest of today. We’ll be hanging out in our beloved Teldrassil. Cat’s always been a Cenarion Circle, lets all live together in peace and harmony kind of Druid but harm her home? Not sure how that’s going to go over with her.

We will see.

For Those Once Stuck: Redemption

Posted in Dog, General WoW with tags , , on February 13, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

stuckMommy, this isn’t even fun for me anymore … I’m stuck. I know, I know. I take every chance I get to feature my dog. Happily he made it out of the snow this morning AND Cimmeria made it out of Brawlers Guild Level 5.

I just wanted to thank everyone who gave encouragement and advice. To Lyss, thank you for reminding me that talents are not written in stone and they can be changed. To Cain and Erinys, thank you for telling Cim to get off her butt and move. She ran like the wind once I threatened to dress her in this again.

redemptionProboskus down, she continued on and took out those Leper Gnomes. Level 6! Yay Cim!

Okay, she gave two trys to Yikkan Izu and realized she’ll have to study up on him but being stuck at Level 6 is preferable to being stuck on … rain drops. Thank you for all that good advice!

Too Stuffed to Jump

Yeah well, it was overdue. I haven’t posted any dog photos for a while. I just thought I’d put this one up as a cautionary measure. Tomorrow’s Thanksgiving, and you know what can happen, this. Just say no. If where you live you don’t celebrate a day of thanksgiving tomorrow, well don’t do it either, or do if you want. I was just looking at the dog’s baby pictures and this one so reminded me of how full I’ve felt after eating thanksgiving dinner, flopped on the couch watching football and I wanted to post it.

In his case this was taken after his stupid human left a 20lb. dog food bag unattended. I didn’t know he would drill into the side of it releasing all the food. I didn’t know he’d attempt to eat all the food. I know him better now.

What does this have to do with WoW? Um, nothing, I’m getting to that. Oh wait, and another thing, if you ever find yourself working for yourself here’s a heads up. If a client tries to get a better price, or faster turn around by hinting at future work, said work will NEVER be offered. It’s like a rule. One of these clients just called. Every time she calls it’s an emergency. She needs it done immediately, she’s sorry, she just got out of the hospital, she’ll do anything if I can just get this done NOW.

Well, I’m trying to catch up with screen shots for IntPiPoMo but okay. But really, every single time she calls she says she just got out of the hospital. That’s the trouble with telling stories, you can’t keep track of who you told what. If it were true she wouldn’t be walking around, she’d have no working parts left. I work for money, end of story. You don’t need to make up excuses for asking for last minute work, you just have to pay me, simple.

Oh geez, yup, sorry. What I WANTED to say when I opened WordPress this morning before the stove packed it in and the last-minute lady with hospitalitis called was that I feel like something of a nitwit. This post is actually Paladin related. See below,my lovely Paladin, mesmerized by that piece of pie.

I wish I wouldn’t get all over the place like this, it makes it hard to decide what category to put it in. But, anyway, a while ago I said that I was having a hard time learning about how to play her. I said all the guides were for level capped Paladins. So you should never listen to anything I have to say on serious topics. Why?

I visit MMO Melting Pot daily. After I read my blogs I go there because they will find me yet more blogs to read. Apparently I only look at the left side of the page. Last night my eyes must have been rolling around with fatigue and accidentally veered over to the right side of the page. Eureka! What have we here. Quick Start Guides for all classes! Retribution Paladin DPS in 4.2!  And, What am I doing wrong as a … Retribution Paladin. Maybe you don’t need that one but I do. So, if you need a starter guide to a class, they’ve got it covered. I take it back, there are guides out there if you’re just starting out in a new class you just have to look at the … whole page.

I don’t think I’ll get my catch up set of  screen shots up today. I have to start cleaning the house to make it appear tomorrow as though it always looks clean. So to anyone celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, have a great Thanksgiving Day! To all those who aren’t, have a great Thursday!

Fine Print, WoW Goals and OMG!

Posted in Dog, General WoW with tags , , , , , on October 9, 2011 by tomeoftheancient

I was feeling kinda mopey after Ironsally reached her goal. Ah, I know just the thing, real life! We went to visit my daughter and son-in-law. At lunch my daughter asked about the ads on this blog. “What,” I cried indignantly! “Ads, my blog has no ads!” Okay, there is a link to a dog rescue, but that’s not an ad. Whelp, turns out she’s right. I’m sure this was covered somewhere in tiny small print when I enlisted with WordPress but … well … I sorta don’t do small print. And it turns out that I can’t see them. If you’re logged into a WordPress account they don’t show up, sheesh, I just feel violated somehow. So anyway, sorry about the ads if you see them, I didn’t do it.

I decided to complete a few WoW goals, like get my Army of One guild to level 3. Huzzah!! We (well, me technically) have arrived! We now have Mount Up and hopefully my herbalist will now stand a fighting chance against those swoopy druids when she goes out to pick flowers.

I then decided to assess my mount and companion collection. Although some of them looked possibly good to eat to my druid she didn’t eat any, I’m woefully behind as it is I can’t spare another. I really love being able to check on what I have not collected on the armory. I was looking for a quest I might have missed that awarded a pet and I found one! Tiny Flamefly for completing the quest SEVEN! YUP!. You may have to go to Flamestar Post to pick up the quests that will get you to it, but at 85 they were quick and fun to do. Tiny Flamefly got me to 109. I’m trying not to buy them but at some point if I want to get to 125 I guess I’ll have to. Mounts, I only have 60. I’ve been a lazy slacker with my mount collection.

With my mount and companion collection sorted out I was at a loss for something to do so I decided to go to Uldum and check on how Ironsally was doing.

OMG! I knew it, I just knew it! I knew that after her 15 minutes of fame Sally wasn’t going to go quietly into the night. That girl is just out of control. She had summoned Ironyca’s Elford to Uldum with some story about wanting company while she stood around Ramkehen trying to get Stood in the Fire. I always thought she was sweet on him. I got there just in time, because she was texting Döra’s Nerfiron to come too. Who knows who else she has on speed dial. I am so sorry Ironyca, I promise it won’t happen again. It’s clear to me now that I have to find something to keep her occupied, apparently fishing wasn’t her cup of tea. Hmmm, maybe archeology? Maybe I can bribe a guard to keep her in The Stockade until I can find something to occupy her and keep her out of trouble.

A Dramaless Guild

Posted in Dog, General WoW with tags , , on December 17, 2010 by tomeoftheancient

I’m in a WoW funk. Oh come on, that’s just an excuse to post goofy pictures of your dog. No, really. I’m not sure what it says about me that I have WoW mini depressions but I do. I am disappointed at the least. I’ve given up, thrown in the towel. After four years of hopefulness about finding a guild I have just finally put all my characters in my bank guild.

I admit that hoping to find a guild of older players with a heavy concentration of them online between 6:00 am and 3:00 pm is asking a bit much. I think the problem is that the first guild I joined way back in vanilla was such a guild. My server was fresh and new and a group of experienced people rerolled there and started a guild. Some of them were EMTs and nurses and worked strange hours so there was always someone to talk to. I remember discussing the merits of different fast food breakfasts while I was stuck in Desolace with nothing to eat but Delicious Cave Mold. Ah, the good old days. It only lasted a couple months though.

We finally had enough members to try our first instance, which was Scarlet Monastery … we were awful. The poor GM and an officer were trying to get us newbs into shape but OMG we were really bad. I didn’t have a clear idea at the time of what a dungeon really entailed so I did the stupid hunter trick of running out of arrows, and as the hunter dead zone was still there at the time I also pulled more NPCs into the fray by backing up to get range. There was more horror but you get the idea.

After the instance debacle I finally had enough money to buy my guild tabard, I put it on and admired it and logged for the night. When I logged in the next day I had a blank tabard. Huh, what happened. I then finally sussed that I was no longer in a guild. The shame, I mean I knew I had been awful last night but hey we all were. I’ve been kicked!!!

No not really. I found another guildie and whispered her. She said check out the guild website. There was a very nice notice that the GM had disbanded the guild overnight as he had real life commitments and none of the officers wanted to take over. I checked and neither the GM or officers still had characters on the server anymore so I think that translates as “we thought it would be fun to start a guild on a new server but had no idea what trying to teach a bunch of newbs to play would be like” lol. I can’t really blame them, it couldn’t have been much fun, we were that bad.

Some of the guild decided to reroll horde, some went to other guilds, other servers and other games, finally there was just me left.

After that between my different characters I’ve probably been in five or so other guilds. But although when recruiting, guilds always say, it’s okay if you’re only on in the daytime, it’s okay that you won’t be raiding they really don’t feel that way once the time comes to try to fill a raid.

So instead of being in a funk I guess I should be happy, I’m going to have a completely dramaless guild and who knows  in a year or two my guild might make it to level 2!

WoW Spillover – The Boots of Canine Restraint

Boots of Canine Restraint

Okay it’s a good thing my husband doesn’t read this because even I’ll admit this is weird. I don’t do it with everything but I have a few pieces of wardrobe that have developed wow names. It didn’t happen on purpose, it just kind of happened. Our dog MUST be walked every day no matter what the weather. There have been times, like Snowpocalypse 2010 when we had two feet of snow, that I really wasn’t in the mood. One day I was angrily rooting around in a pile of outside shoes asking myself where were my boots of canine restraint. Up until then I wasn’t aware they actually had a name but apparently I had named them. The dreaded wow spillover into rl hits again, stealthily even as it was news to me that they had a name.

It’s getting that time of year again and I just dug them out of the closet. They’re pretty scuffed and dingy I’ll have to pay a visit to The Threads of Fate and get Sheddle Glossgleam to shine ‘em up.
