Through Your Interface — Vacation Spot

Posted in Saz's Screen Shot Challenge with tags , , , , on June 17, 2011 by tomeoftheancient

This is Day Eight of World of Saz 15 Days of Screen Shots challenge, I’m skipping day seven for now. The floating islands in Nagrand, wow, they still blow me away. I go back to Nagrand every once in a while. I pick up my bag of jewels from those shady Consortium guys just to keep them on their toes. I fly up to an island and count ’em to make sure they didn’t short me and then I just enjoy the view. I doubt I’m the only vacationer here, if I do a /who there are usually a few 85s on that list, they probably bought one of those condos over by the elemental plateau.

Right now I practically live in Uldum hunting for Camel Figurines. I’ve found three now although just the kind that fall apart into 25 gold worth of dust so I’m still looking. I want to meet up with that camel hoarder.

Oh yeah and while you’re here did you see the post on how to reach the gold cap on WoW Insider this morning? I was so depressed, I am such an underachiever. I think, well, I know the most gold I ever had was 150,000 and once I hit that mark I immediately proceeded to spend 20,000 on just stuff.

So, feeling like a slacker I decided to head to Uldum and grind something sell-able. My Druid is a skinner/lw but oddly she really doesn’t like to go out and skin. So you have to bribe her. I just noticed that when something positive happens in-game like an achievement I refer to it as “I got the achievement” and when something negative happens like my Druid having to be bribed it’s suddenly my Druid’s fault. Anyway …

So my alchemist mixes her up a batch of Potion of Treasure Finding and off she goes to decimate the crocolisk population of Uldum. If I have to grind leather I like crocolisks because of this:

I love it when they fly up and flip over dead, makes me feel like a very powerful cat. I am going for a double but haven’t got one yet. Having two flip at the same time would be wonderful, kinda of like the Triple Axel of croc killing!

Okay, I kind of got off on a tangent there but what started it was Uldum.  I’m wondering if in an expansion or two when asked for my favorite vacation spot it just may have changed to Uldum, or maybe I’ll winter in Uldum and summer in Nagrand.

Mysterious Glowing Figure in Ramkahen Inn

Posted in WoW Glitches with tags , , on February 5, 2011 by tomeoftheancient

A day or two ago what appears to be some flavor of Elf appeared in the Inn in Ramkahen. You can’t target or speak with her, at first I thought my video card was going, getting double vision but it seems not as others can see her.

Anyone know who she is? Is she a harbinger of something to come? Is her appearance a portent of some great looming threat on the near horizon? Inquiring minds want to know, well, mostly me but I’m sure you do too. I haven’t seen a glowing figure in any other location but maybe they are appearing elsewhere too.

Did she get stuck in a transporter beam? Well, so far I can’t find any information about what this might mean but knowing how things go in Azeroth I don’t think it can be a good sign, eeeeeeee!

Another Uldum Quest but not for Everyone

Posted in WoW Solo with tags , , , on January 25, 2011 by tomeoftheancient

Well sometimes it pays to rush in killing everything and ask questions later. When my hunter went through the quests in the Obelisk of the Stars I remembered that my druid had a quest to kill the scarabs, where was mine? Apparently you have to kill a scarab to get the quest Just a Fancy Cockroach. I’ll have to go back after the servers are up and see if there are any scarabs still there. Another quest where you have to kill one to get the quest is Dirty Birds at the Cradle of the Ancients.

Now for the last one. After you complete Shroud of the Makers, which was horribly frustrating to me, I mean I don’t want to hurt Sullah’s feelings or anything but whoever sold him that Shroud sure saw a live one coming, I mean that shroud got me killed numerous times, I guess the keyword there was “nearly” invisible, anyway after the quest is done go back to see the damage you caused.

All those elites are gone and Myzerian is slowly circling around, occasionally flopping down in pain, he’s down to about a third of his original health. Okay, go kill  him. Huh, yep, go kill him. Really I wonder who the first person was who took a look at him circling around and said well, hell yeah, I’m going to kill that dragon for no reason whatsoever.

After you kill Myzerian, on looting him you’ll get Myzerian’s Head which you can return to Sullah for a nice reward, but the sad part for me is not everyone can pull this off alone. My feral druid tried it repeatedly. I tried getting up bleeds and then kiting, no luck. I tried bear, no luck, I just couldn’t do it. I’m sure some feral druid will manage it but I sure didn’t. After about 5 tries I gave up.

Now my hunter is in Uldum questing and I thought I’d give it a try. My hunter’s gear is not great, just quest greens and blues and her bear is level 84. She does have the Glyph of Mending. Not a problem, took a while but the bear was never, ever, close to low health. My hunter took more damage from the Fire Spits than the bear did. I had to bandage my hunter once but other than that it was no problem. I’m sure it will be the same for my warlock whenever she finally gets there.

So Myzerian’s Head is there for the taking for certain classes solo, you know who you are … you, you, pet owners.

Stuck in Uldum with no more Quests

Just in case anyone else is stuck in this predicament I thought I’d share what worked for me. My druid went through Uldum without a hitch but while I was there I heard a few people say they were stuck somewhere in the Harrison Jones line of quests.

Well my hunter just got stuck there too. I was in the Chamber of Stars, turned in the rope to Harrison and that was it, no more quests. After flying around and around the room I finally found a dead body with the quest Lessons from the Past and was able to continue, whew, but I remember a quest to kill scarabs that the druid did and I thought it was in the Chamber of the Stars but maybe not, I was just happy to get unstuck, lol, I like Uldum and didn’t want to leave it half-done.
