I Can’t Do It

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on July 22, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

I just can’t seem to move past this … I just can’t. In the interest of moving on it looks like I have to show this but I just won’t say anything. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. I’ll keep quiet … for once. Really, now on with the show.

 Just … yeah.

Somnolent Cats, Self-centered Warlock and Real Life

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on July 8, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

catsleepSo things haven’t been going smoothly lately or at least not as planned. Last Saturday I was looking forward to an evening with the Old Lady Raiders. I had told Breige I’d see her there and I was sure we’d have lots of fun.

I missed it. Stolen by gypsies? Abducted by aliens? Yeah, I wish I had a cool story but … no. I was asleep. The previous evening fireworks in our neighborhood went on until the wee hours, I didn’t get much sleep. I sat down on the couch about a half hour before I usually login.

In my defense my husband had formula one racing on. I’m sorry formula one fans but that stuff put me to sleep faster than you can say Lewis Hamilton. Three and a half hours later I woke up. Yeah … missed it. I guess that’s what old ladies do. Snore …

I’ve come to realize that, big surprise, my Warlock is pretty self-centered. The last thing she did in the beta was take advantage of a death-free photo-op with Grommash Hellscream and then she split. She does not have it in her to selflessly explore the beta. She doesn’t want to know. I told her Cymre and Euphyley were doing it and she said, fine I’ll read them instead.

I kinda know how she felt though because aside from Garrisons I was running around just killing a bunch of stuff hoping it would complete one of the quests I had because I didn’t want to ACTUALLY READ the quest text. Because I don’t want to know what’s going on.

I mean I met Yrel and covered my ears and ran off like a madwoman. I hope she forgets that by expansion launch. I didn’t mean to be rude but I just want to save it.

So I decided to head back to MoP. I was thwarted in that too. That’s what I’ll do. Nope. Nope. Nope. Not happening.

My husband is off work for a week. He has PROJECTS, we must then drive around securing materials (much like garrisons) to complete said projects. And while out we must dine in style … repeatedly. By the time his week vacation is over I’ll have accumulated enough material to make one banging GIANT garrison not to mention the ten pounds I’ll have gained.

So sleep on little Cat, we’ll make up for it when I return from real life. I promise.

Warlords Beta: In Search of the Poop Quest

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , , on July 2, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

stayregularIt kind of tickles me that when giving a beta key to a long time subscriber, Blizzard had no idea that said subscriber was also a nut job blogger who’s enamored by poop quests. One of my top priorities has been searching for the Warlords poop quest.

Can it be? Has the poop quest been elevated to the lofty status of an achievement? And yes, I tried but they haven’t hooked up the plumbing quite yet I guess.

raidtierOMG! Quick! Someone get a shovel! There’s raid tier buried here! Probably find lots of stuff for transmogging. I wonder if that little dog Pippers did this.

bowlingtCim! I told you not to muck about with stuff! You messed around with that monument thingy and now we’re stuck with … what is it anyway? The Largest Bowling Trophy Evar … I see. Can you please just not touch stuff if you don’t know what it does from now on?

It’s so embarrassing, I know Cim’s a Warlock but look at the way she treats her followers! It’s shocking! I wouldn’t be surprised if they walked off the job on her. Really Cim!

Yeah, guess I’d better get back finding that poop quest. Inquiring minds want to know! Oh, okay … maybe you don’t but I sure do.

Pippers the Helpful Garrison Dog

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on July 1, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

pippersI was happy to see that the Garrisons come complete with a dog and cat. I noticed Pippers running out of the Garrison. I was concerned, it’s dangerous out there. Where’s Shelly? No where to be found so I went running after him to make sure he didn’t get in trouble.

Oh! Pippers, thank you! He led me around and took me to places he’d buried Garrison Resources. I’ll be interested to see if he buries more tomorrow.

outhouseI thought I should introduce myself to the inhabitants of the Garrison and found that, YES, I have an outhouse. And that one lumberjack kept knocking back beers so fast I don’t know how much use he’ll be.

surveyA Dwarf was surveying the area and I asked if I could have a look. She graciously allowed me a peek.

view Shadowmoon Valley is shockingly beautiful compared to what exists there now but for my crappy eyes it’s a little dark.

What most struck me today was the incredible difference a day made. Yesterday I thought this expansion would never be ready by December. Today Garrisons have been stable and I’ve not encountered one problem. Evidently I know nothing about game development. Now I’m a whole lot more optimistic.

Makes me want to start over with another character and experience it while working as intended … I’m just afraid. Cat? Could you make sure you stay in cat form and don’t scare me with the Stern Elf of Death?

Khadgar’s Happy to See Me!

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on June 30, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

KhadgarI knew Khadgar was one of the greatest wizards ever but damn, that guy is a little intimidating. I got up my nerve and had a chat with him. He sent me on my way. After that it all got a little buggy, I feel bad cause I know he’s depending on me.

I was happy I got to meet Cyrme’s flatulent friend. All I want to do is finally have a garrison but it’s proving harder than I’d imagined. Not the mobs but this:

techdiffI’m either being booted off or I’m actually there but … can’t see anything … or move. I was dumped at the Dark Portal and then anytime I moved anywhere I ended up back at the Portal. This is starting to feel like real life. This can’t be right. I finally found a mini Dark Portal in Stormwind where the Cata portals are. Success! I’m in!

Oh not so fast Missy! Damn, the server went down. I’m taking a breather. This is hard work. I just really wanted to show my Khadgar screen shot. Because giant … ah … WIZARD.

First Impressions: Um … Who are You?

Posted in General WoW with tags , , on June 28, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

madcatYike! Yike! Yike! This is not my sweet Cat! This Elf scares the bejeebers out of me. She looks … she looks like a big meanie. Somehow seeing the artwork does not prepare you for seeing the change to your character. I was so alarmed by Cat’s stern countenance I switched to Cim. If Cat looks scary what in the world will that Warlock look like?

So while I’m switching I’m listening to the music and THAT’S intimidating too. Jeez, they weren’t kidding about Warlords being brutal. Okay, here’s Cim … Cim?

schoolmarmWTF! Cim the Warlock looks like a schoolmarm! Still, it’s less disturbing than Cat. I think I’ll stick with Cim although she lost all her pretty clothes and now looks like a refugee from a garage sale. I kept getting booted off so my first impressions are few.

Yay! Toy Box! Finally found it on my pet tab. First thing I did was clean up her bags. I wish Cim was more of a collector, I would really have seen an improvement with Cat but I can’t go there, she’s too scary.

There’s now a little icon on your bag to auto arrange. DON’T DO IT! I had to spend a lot of valuable time putting it all back the way it was because we don’t see eye-to-eye on arranging issues. AND IT STOLE MY STUFF! Oh … I see … sorry. I only had one stack of Spirit Dust but it had about 74 in it. That’s wonderful.

Next, I spent most of my time doing keybinds. I’m fine without addons but really need the keybinds to stay alive for any length of time and a few macros. There. Let’s do this!

Well, we got through the portal but she’s stuck on a kill eight Orc quest. I think we managed to get to six. I think we’ll have to wait until next week daytime. There were not enough Orc to go around for the mobs of people, so finding an undead one was pretty tricky.

The most surprising thing was my reaction to Cat, she seriously disturbs me at this point although I liked the new models when the art was released. I know they’re still working on them and they’re not a finished product. Hopefully they’ll end up looking a little less … forbidding.

Cat’s in Heaven and I’m Conflicted … or was

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on June 27, 2014 by tomeoftheancient

cathumanmaleI wasn’t going to do this but Cat just won’t let it go. It’s no secret that Cat has long been an admirer of the human male even in their present form, but this! Aaaiiieee! She’s in heaven! She wanted me to post their picture so everyone could enjoy them. Um … yeah, sorry about the Cat photobomb but she just wouldn’t move.

I’m worried that when Warlords gets here she won’t leave Stormwind between mooning over Jarel Moor and the Stormwind Guards.

Now for the conflict. I got a beta invite today for Warlords. Let’s face it, I’m the last person you want in beta. Useful feedback? I don’t think so, we’d get hotness reports on the NPCs from Cat and from me? I generally just gawk around and look at the scenery. And then I don’t want to wear it out before it gets here either. So … yeah conflicted.

There, that’s settled … not going to install. End of story … okay so I was the teeny tiniest bit interested in just SEEING A LITTLE bit of the place. That’s all, just a quick look around.

Okay, yay! Let’s install that baby! Oh … although it says I can install it now it’s not there. What’s there is Warlords of Draenor which really isn’t, it’s just the normal game and then Alpha: Warlords of Draenor which is not the beta. So maybe someone forgot to change the name to beta, I’ll try installing it. Nope … get an error right away.

cantgetinI tried the “more help” and that didn’t work either. Maybe they’re just busy … maybe I should be patient.

Yeah … I know. I went from conflicted to OPEN THE DAMN DOOR pretty fast once it was denied me. I will continue to puzzle over it until someone LETS ME IN!

So now we know if you want me to do something tell me I can’t. Sheesh, I’m predictable. And another thing, I find the timing suspicious too. I had just received an email from Wildstar telling me my free ride of a month was coming to an end, set up a subscription. Now I’m totally distracted. Crafty … very, very tricksy Blizzard, and it worked!
