Communique from Commander Chibi Cat

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , , on January 5, 2015 by tomeoftheancient

comcatFINALLY! Finally she who must be obeyed has seen fit to get me my own chibi. Apparently you have to reach the rank of Commander to be so honored, I think it’s long overdue and I love it! Thank you Coolidge of Pali Doodles, it’s wonderful!

Since I’m here and she who must be obeyed doesn’t seem that interested lately in posting maybe I’ll do a post. Hmm … let’s see … oh, I’ve been spending a lot of time at my garrison getting to know the people. I met Lantresor of the Blade a long, long time ago in Nagrand. Now that he’s working in my garrison I was shocked to find he’s kind of a whiner.

“How long are we going to be cooped up in this garrison?” “I miss the plains of Nagrand.” Jeez Lantresor, we’re fighting the Iron Horde here, you’ve got to expect to make a few sacrifices.

And then there’s Kyra Goldhands my garrison banker. She’s really nice and I like her but it’s evident that she took this job because of battle fatigue. I mean I visit her every day and she SHOULD know me by now but frequently she greets me with a cheery, great to meet you!

There’s a problem there, could be the result of a war wound, you never know.

Oh! And Cim said she got to the bottom of Kaylie McDonald’s frequent disappearances from the Tailoring Emporium. It seems Cim built her Salvage Yard right next to it and Kaylie … for SOME reason … finds it neccesary to use the workbench there … yeah, I’m not buying it. I think she’s sweet on old Hennick Helmsley who works there, that’s what I think.

I’m not one to judge, I’ve been known to appreciate male humans myself.

Oh man, it’s bad enough that she’s not posting and now she’s calling me saying we need to trap for savage blood. Maybe this will wear off soon.

In the meantime take a look at these chibis, you might recognize a few, I know I did! Thanks again Cool!

LOOK! LOOK! LOOK!

coolcatCat! It’s really not considered polite over here in real life to yell like that on the internet. What is it?

I’m a cool cat!

Okay, she’s too excited to make much sense right now. This morning when I checked my email for new blog posts I saw that Coolidge of Pali Doodles had a new post up. About faffing? That’s for me! I go there and find this incredible picture of Cat! It’s a Cool Cat!

I love it and was so excited but didn’t even realize at first how REALLY special it is.  Yes, it appears to be the ONLY evidence in existence that Druid kitties lick their paws or for that matter even have a tongue.

Cymre of Bubbles of Mischief and I were trying to figure out what color Druid cat’s tongues were because WE KNEW we had seen them grooming their paws. Knew it. So we tried emotes, yawning, sitting and staring at our Druid kitties for a sign of a tongue. Nothing.

I logged out and went through every animation I could think of in WoW Model Viewer and still nothing.

This picture appears to be the only one in existence of a WoW Druid cat licking her paw. Which I know she does but she’s apparently very secretive about it. I could not catch her doing it in-game so it’s especially cool … pun intended.

Thank you so much Coolidge! I really, really love it and needless to say Cat is in heaven!

Killing Time When There’s No One to Kill Outfit

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on June 19, 2012 by tomeoftheancient

Yesterday I could actually have killed something but instead I was killing time making this outfit. There was a post at That Was an Accident a few days ago that reminded me that my Warlock, Cimmeria, still had The Robe of Doan in her bank and I should try once again to do something with it and make it look different than all the other Robes of Doan I see.

I’m now frustrated as I can’t login and see what the heck she’s wearing. Anyway I lost focus about half way through and for whatever reason was thinking about Duskwood and the “Doan Know What to do with it” turned into the “Walking Alone Late at Night in Duskwood” outfit. When I can login I plan on finding her a proper weapon and off-hand and hope I’ve made an outfit that I could conceivably get. Usually everything I make in MogIt involves gladiatory stuff so it’s not very practical.

So today I’m killing time because I can’t login and kill something. I mean I have plenty to do but don’t want to do it right now, so I’ve been using the resources of Cafe Press to entertain myself by making phony T-shirts to scare Navimie which is really mean because she posts cool, cute, stuff like Souglyy’s new Chibi by Sleepingfox.

Yes, it’s maintenance. What to do next. I can’t transmog. I’ve made a scary fake T-shirt. I’ve pestered you. I don’t know. I got nothing. Work? Oh all right, I’ll leave you alone and go do some work. Sheesh, I hate Tuesdays.

New Look and Nerd Redemption

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on May 25, 2012 by tomeoftheancient

Through some serendipitous celestial event, some fortuitous alignment of the stars, everything just came together this morning. Yes, I will no longer be representing myself to the world (of WoW) as a generic kitty. Thanks to coming second in Kamalia’s Great Blog Noblegarden Egg Hunt 3.0 I now have a beautiful new avatar created by the lovely and talented Vidyala of Manalicious and From Draenor With Love. Cat is just thrilled and she’s been running around Stormwind showing it to everyone.

Then I visited Navimie and found her 25 May is Geek Pride Day post and a chance to redeem myself. She said Cyrme had found a second nerd test! This is it! A second chance to make up for that 71 score because of the stupid math and on Geek Pride Day too!

Oh the pressure! Thankfully the fact that I used to watch shows with talking cars finally paid off. I just knew that’d come in handy one day! So I am proudly a Cool Nerd Queen on the day I get a new avatar AND just in time to honor Geek Pride Day, although I really thought I’d do better on dorkiness but you can’t have everything.

In game I’ve decided to stop fooling around and get serious about my bucket list. I finally got my poor Shaman, who has been sitting at 84 1/2, to 85. She was somewhat annoyed that I haven’t updated her clothes since level 80. She thinks Ironsally had a negative influence on me and she could be right. I do seem to have developed a rather cavalier attitude toward gear, I should really at least make her something to wear now that she’s 85.

And now, Hunter, get ready. We WILL have the Vial of the Sands before Mists arrives, we MUST find the recipe, MUST!

So yeah, that’s what I’ll be doing, serious digging. But first I must change into my new avatar so I can see how I look! Exciting! And I even remembered to get pine nuts so I can make Kamalia’s Cornmeal & Pine Nut-Crusted Fresh-Caught Fish for dinner! Yay for Geek Pride Day!

Gilnean Art and Sick Day

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on May 14, 2012 by tomeoftheancient

I figured if you could count on anyone having some nice artwork it would be those classy Gilneans. They also have beautiful stained glass windows in Greymane Manor.

Oh, I love it. Whoever lived here liked wall art too. Mostly the dead animal kind but still, I like it, very cozy, warm, feeling in here in spite of the lonely creepiness of the zone. I wish there were people around. I really hope at some point Blizzard will populate Gilneas for people who aren’t doing the starting zone. Seems such a waste of a good spooky zone.

A tapestry. I don’t remember seeing one anywhere else which seems odd. I’ve got to pay more attention on my travels, I think I’ve been missing a lot.

A lovely wooly sheep portrait. Maybe he was a Gilnean’s 4-H project. Not sure they had 4-H in Gilneas, I’ll have to ask a Worgen.

Sometimes their taste seems to run to gloomy with full moons.

Another somewhat gloomy landscape, with another full moon. Yes, I know it’s rude to stand on the place setting but I don’t think anyone’s coming back and I wanted to get a good view. I wonder if these full moons were painted before or after the Worgen curse infected Gilneas. If it was before, that painter had some kind of an eerie prescience thing going on. Yikes, I’m outta here.

Luckily I had this post done last week so I can take a sick day. Last week my husband took a mental health afternoon sick half day, and then of course got sick a day later. Kind of ironically prophetic. I now have whatever it is. Yesterday we hosted the Mommmmie Day, so I hope all the other Mommmmie’s aren’t sick too.

In another show of prophecy, my non-gaming daughter had said that I shouldn’t be nervous about The Twisted Nether appearance as I would probably LOVE talking about WoW, and mentions of WoW are always accompanied by a world class eye-roll. It turns out she was right, it was lovely getting to talk to Hydra and Fimlys, I had fun, although I’m not up to listening to it as I don’t think I can take hearing my voice. Maybe after I get over this sickness my husband imported from work.

I stepped away from the computer for one day, ONE DAY, and I have 84 emails, most of them posts to read. I am so behind! I must catch up, finish rl work, cough and hack, so much to do … BUT WAIT!

I just realized that since I didn’t visit Anzu yesterday, if I hurry I can kill him twice today.  Yes, this surely will be my lucky day, the stars have aligned, the omens are all in my favor, this must be it! Let’s see, Ancona Chicken  and Argent Squire are up next. I think they sound lucky. We’ll see, here goes try 147 and try 148, wish me luck!

Silly Cat the Whistleblower

Posted in General WoW with tags , , on May 7, 2012 by tomeoftheancient

I got to see Battle for Mount Hyjal last night, I really like outdoor instances and raids. I hesitate to say I DID the Battle for Mount Hyjal because sometimes my lunacy even astounds me. I mean how do I survive rl, honestly. It’s a good thing I never did these things at the appropriate level. I can’t even begin to imagine how annoying I would be.

Anyway, the picture above is a dramatization. That silly cat, who’s blissfully enjoying a ride from Air Burst, somehow failed to remember there would be NO damage reduction from falling just because it was a level 70 raid. Oh, no worries, Survival Instincts should cover it. Well, she landed with about 3hp left, healers of Azeroth, beware! Cats apparently don’t even know basic pixel physics, sheesh.

She forgets bear form, she forgets she can battle rez. I guess I should be happy she finally looked up, and remembered she had a caster form and threw some weak Wraths up there at the Frost Wyrms. Anyway, it was great fun, maybe someday that cat will get her act together.

But while she was hanging around Stormwind beforehand, she stumbled onto a shocking find. It really looks like someone at Stormwind General Services has some kind of scam going. Oh yes, and she has the photos to prove it right here. While milling about in Stormwind she decided to take in some of the artwork. Great art hangs in all the shops and eateries in Stormwind, why not do a tour!

On touring the establishments in the city, a disturbing trend soon took shape. Here, you be the judge.

There are only FIVE paintings! They are repeated throughout town, um, repeatedly! Where did the city art allowance go? Who’s behind this, smells of Goblin work. All the paintings seems to be the work of anti-luminst Taven Stoneheart, a Dwarf of some renown around  Dun Morogh. Did he have a hand in this monstrous plot?

King Varian Wrynn must be told! Ah, Cat, let’s not get ahead of things here. There may be a perfectly good explanation. Maybe it’s a cost cutting measure, the war and all.

She wouldn’t listen and ran off to tell Varian. I don’t know if that was such a good idea. If there’s something to it, those behind it might not be that pleased with her. If we suddenly stop hearing from her, I’ll assume she had to enter a Witsec Progam. Poor Cat.

Ironman Challenger Commissions Portrait

Posted in WoW Ironman Challenge with tags , , , on September 12, 2011 by tomeoftheancient

Not really. Ironsally didn’t commission it, I did it for her. At level 80 she was feeling a bit down and I thought it would cheer her up. Meet Makdok, the reason Ironsally’s made it this far. Her beloved bodyguard. Okay, he’s just horsing around, just some hijinks … MAK! Send him back NOW!

“Send him back NOW” is the title of this incredible portrait of Mak. I feel an addition to my business wardrobe coming. It all started when I was doing my morning check to see if any of my favorite blogs had a new post. I found a new comment on one, with a link to deviantART. I’m nosy and it was ART! I must follow. I found this post by Furrama. I looked at her gallery at deviantART and went to her J. Christine Leach website.  I thought holy moly, I’ve got to contact this woman before she changes her mind!

She graciously agreed to accept the commission to portray Sally’s blobby Voidwalker. The only input I gave her was he’s really mean and buff. Before you know it I received her sketch.

It was perfect! Just how I imagined him. Sally was going to be so happy. I told Christy he was perfect so she said she would commence with the inkaning, one of those fancy highly technical terms artists use I guess. I then bounced up and and down on my computer chair in anticipation. Luckily for my chair, turnaround was amazingly fast and within days I received Sally’s beautiful Mak in all his glory.

I received a smaller web-sized version and a large version suitable for print. Ironsally was so pleased she’s managed to drag herself to within three bars of 82. So if you have a character you’d like to immortalize for all time, check out Furrama’s gallery, it’s really worth seeing. Ironsally loved it Christy, thank you!
