A Reason for Living … well … Sorta Living

Posted in General WoW with tags , , , on February 24, 2015 by tomeoftheancient

So. Waiting for Patch 6.1. There’s nothing to do but read over the Patch Notes this morning. I’m not sure why I do it as I’ll forget most of it, after eight years of changes I’m usually remembering changes from three years ago. For example I had NO IDEA that you could spec your hunter pets to any specialization. WTF! When did that happen?

Anyway, I’m usually a day late and a dollar short. Cat got her fishing to cap right before they changed the fishing dailies to award 15 points. Stuff like that. But today, because I read the patch notes AND the comments I have learned something for once BEFORE I wasted a lot of time.

Unfortunately it may mean the death of a character. Or continued undeath, I’m not sure with a Death Knight.

My DK had one reason for living, just one. Open boxes with her skeleton keys … that’s it. I would have started her on her journey tonight or tomorrow as Hunter just reached 100 last night.

She was ready, she even has an archeology weapon ready to go. When servers come up I’m going to have to face her and tell her it’s a no go. I don’t need her. I only suffer through leveling her (yes, I suck as a DK) for her box opening abilities. Can’t do that … don’t need you. I am so not looking forward to this discussion.

I don’t think I should have to to this … yeah okay … she’s a DK, she’s not radiating a warm fuzzy glow … but still … I hate hurting her feelings. I mean DK’s do still have feelings don’t they? Blizzard should have to tell her why they did this, not me.

So for the first time ever, I have learned of something BEFORE I wasted a lot of time and effort because I read the patch notes … well the comments on the patch notes.

So see, read the patch notes and save some time.

And take away the only reason for living from your character. A character who’s already been through so much … crap … I might have to level her just to avoid the guilt … this is ridiculous.

The Standoff and Zero to Sixty

standoffYeah, Cat really hates the Timeless Isle now but it was the last push to get the Elemental Shaman’s pants completed. This Blood Elf saw her fighting a turtle and came over and stood there watching. Uh oh. Yep, a leather thief. He was jabbering away at her in a language she doesn’t understand and she couldn’t communicate.

If she ever planned on going back I would have made her a macro that said, /yell Look you nincompoop you are not the only skinner in the world!

So she just stood there refusing to loot … then she realized SHE was being a nincompoop so she ran off for a while and they lost interest and she resumed. She even bought a overpriced Spirit of War to end that 28 day grind one day early. There … never again.

sneakycatShe did find a use for all those coins that she doesn’t need. She buys Scrolls of Challenge and stealths over and summons Archiereus of Flame whenever someone on the Isle needs a rare. Only problem is when you’ve got your UI turned off to take screen shots you can’t see someone else approaching. Yeah, he pissed off this guy and she died. So be careful. Thought she was so clever.

Anyway … the pants grind and a recent Grumpy Elf post got my attention focused back on my Horde group. I had made a bunch of alts to be Sasche’s support staff … they aren’t moving very fast. Someone must step forward and pick up the flag. Someone MUST get to level sixty to take advantage of the profession boost. It would be criminal not to.

Okay, I’m not boosting any class to ninety that I don’t have at least moderate skill with … oh. Okay, that narrowed it down. Feral Druid or Warlock. Let’s see … they’re both pretty fast levelers … hmm … I KNOW!

grakgoesGrak the Warlock has self-esteem issues, her sister the bank alt got all the good looks leaving Grak … well never mind. It would do wonders for her to be the one they’re all counting on! She could stop sitting there at level 5 shooting the shit with the guys.

You go Grak! Show them what you’re made of! Show them you’re … er … not just another pretty face!

Now to convince Cat to get back in the Celestial Tournament and get a few more pets before Warlords and we’ll be in good shape! Focus Cat! Focus!

I want to thank Laeleiweyn for this post. Last night I had defeated everyone in the tournament except Chi-Chi, that team was dead. Reluctant to leave with just one more to go I googled and found that post. I can make that team! What’s more it won easily! Cat’s on her way! She has … a coin. Only eight more to go!

The Agony and the Ecstasy

pvpvgearI’ve always liked professions, I’ve always felt good that my band of misfits can help each other out, and I’m just a little sad when another character reaches the level cap. Nowadays professions are somewhat borked, leveling characters and professions no longer mesh … but I still enjoy them.

Except for this. HOW MANY DAMN GLADIATOR PIECES ARE THERE? NO! No … thanks, but don’t tell me. I don’t think I could handle the truth. All Cat wants is her Snow Lily Belt, she’s still wearing that butt ugly thing she got from Galleon ages ago because SHE KNEW she’d have a nice upgrade soon. HA!

Cim the Warlock who has way fewer patterns to learn bought her belt off the AH rather than wait but Cat being Cat … she wants to CRAFT her own, it seems to be a big issue to her … so she waits … and waits. OH! OH! Not a PvP piece! It’s a … it’s a … oh … healy leather. Another week goes by. OH! This is something good! This might be it … mail.

She sniffs her disappointment once again and runs off to decimate anything on the Isle that drops leather, hopeful that tomorrow will be THE DAY. Poor thing.

turboYou know Alts are kinda spoiled brats. I know, I know. It’s totally my fault. I think Liwu made us buy her Hula Doll when she was around level 65 cause she was afraid they might be out of stock when she hit 70. I know, crazy. I think Griftah has an endless supply of that stuff but we all humored her.

We would have humored her a lot more with mats but that low level stuff isn’t available, at least on our AH. So instead she wheedles Death Knight to go out and speed mine and TA DA! Turbo-Charged Flying Machine was hers! I know the driving force that got her leveled to 71 was that ride. I’ll be interested to see if the speed at which she levels continues. Can the thought of Sky Golem at the end of the road keep her rolling … we’ll see.

Okay, I see my problem now. I wrote this thing this morning and then came back to check for typos and stuff before I published it. This is dangerous, it seems that whenever I don’t just throw caution to the wind and post immediately I later decide to trash the post. Maybe I’ll just forget about typos, it’ll be like live TV! Anything can happen! Teh unedided post!

Hello? Hello? Druid … are you there?

Oohhhh! That explains it! I’m a little busy so I hoped my Druid would agree to say a few words today, but I can see she’s on the last book of the Hunger Games Trilogy too. I’m only here because the iPad’s power was down to 9% so I stopped to charge it and save the end of the book for lunch.

I’m busy in real life because once again, I felt sorry for someone and tried to help and now I’m in a time consuming predicament, I never learn. “No good deed goes unpunished.” I think that’s how it goes. All my life I’ve heard this silly stuff and thought, psshaw, stupid sayings, stupid old wives’ tales. OMG! They’re all true! My apologies, old wives.

I wanted to say at least something before I lock the doors and hunker down with the other judges over all the Mog Madness entries for round two. So far it’s looking like this is going to be a battle of epic proportions. Entrants from the different districts … sorry, sorry, got mixed up there with the Hunger Games for a minute. Mog Madness will NOT be a fight to the death. Thank goodness … whew.

Yes, like I said, I don’t ever learn. That whole crotch grabbing post got me a lot of this kind of spam, this is the only one that was polite enough to show though. And now WordPress is acting up again.  Every time I do a link it adds an extra http:// to the end, rendering it useless. Are they doing this just to see if I’m paying attention?

And while I’m here. Blizzard, I know we ask a lot of you. I know you’re pretty busy. Can’t you just hire a temp or something to go in and reduce the amount of cloth, metal, etc. required to make things in the BC and Wrath range. It is agony. A character now races so fast through those expansions that collecting the required amount of supplies is impossible. Sure, my Alliance characters are rich and just bought the stuff, but my Undead is having trouble. So yeah, could you get someone on that, because I enjoy professions but this is really sucking the fun out of them.

So Mog Madness contestants, here, have a seat in the green room while you wait to see who moves on to the next round … what … oh sorry, how embarrassing, sorry. Yes, I agree, he’s taking up more than one spot. Don’t worry, I’ll ask him sit up and make room. And yes, I am that ridiculous. I did buy a leather couch for the green room and then had to cover it with that unsightly thing because … HELLO! … dog nails!
